The word game where one player is faking it.

Everyone in the room gets the same secret word. Except one. You take turns dropping one-word hints, listen for the person who sounds slightly off, and vote them out. Rounds take about a minute. Play with 3-8 friends in the browser, or add bots to fill empty seats.

How a round works

Open a room and share the six-letter code, or jump into a public lobby from the list on the front page.
Pick a name, colour and icon. Takes ten seconds.
Everyone sees the same secret word. Everyone except the imposter, who only sees a broad category.
Take turns giving a one-word hint. Two hint rounds, then a vote.
Crew wins by pointing at the right person. Imposter wins by not being that person.

Two modes

Word mode is the classic: everyone gets the same word, the imposter gets only the category. Fast, tight, easy to teach in one round.

Question mode hands out a prompt instead of a word (e.g. "a food you'd eat at 3am"). The imposter gets a slightly different prompt and has to blend their honest answer in with everyone else's.

Not enough friends online?

Add bots. They read the word, hint reasonably, chat a bit, vote, and take the imposter role when it comes around. They're beatable, and that's the point.

Can I play with just one friend?

Who makes this

Blffr.io is built and run by Fred, an independent developer in Denmark. It's a one-person side project, not a company: there's no sign-up, nothing is for sale, and the site never asks for payment details. Questions, bug reports and word suggestions all reach a real person at hello@blffr.io, usually answered within a day or two.
